Found little house while searching on Yelp for places to try in the area. Some of my favorite items I tried were the fried pearl noodles, which had a deliciously chewy texture, curry fish balls, tofu satay, and curry puff. I also thought it was so cool that you can purchase House made pandan spread by the jar, I got one of these to take home to have with some milk bread that I got from a bakery near by. I would go back again to try some of their other dishes. Perfect place for soup season.
5 stars for Salted Egg Prawn Chow Fun! Anything with the words 'salted egg' pops out at me, so I had to try it, 'Salted Egg Prawn Chow Fun'! Never seen that on any menu before... is a Yelp Foodie must have. The verdict is "Get it"! Delicious soft rice noodles covered in a delicate salted egg yolk flavor! The dried chilli peppers and curry leaves was an interesting taste addition. Head-on prawns are cooked by being fried in a light salted egg yolk coating. Awesome! Delicious soft rice noodles covered in a delicate salted egg yolk flavor! The dried chilli peppers and curry leaves was an interesting taste addition. Head-on prawns are cooked by being fried in a light salted egg yolk coating. Totally yummy! .....that is if they cook it right. Unfortunately this place lacks consistency. Salted egg yolk with shrimp chow fun. I found it unique in flavor. Unfortunately I've had it here several times and it's never been as good as the first time... which was fantastic! I'm thinking, maybe that was an anomaly. It's all about the salted egg yolk, they have to put enough into the dish to make it flavorful, otherwise it's very bland. Some interesting dishes are served behind these doors. The chef has some chops to belt out some interesting renditions of classic Mayaysian dishes. Though not every dish is a winner, what I did get was flavorful enough to get me to want to try dishes across the menu. Prices are reasonable. Hainanese chicken. You have choice of dark or white meat! Choose dark meat, the white meat has a tendency to be too dry. It comes with three sauces. The ginger sauce is super good. Also comes with a large bowl of plain chicken soup. Mix them all up, however you like and you have a great dish. Roti canai. Average. Nothing special. I'd suggest trying something else. A medium sized restaurant. Decor is average, with some huge pictures of their food, to get you salivating before your actual real food arrives. There is around a dozen tables. Service: no issues, quiet and efficient. Final note: gonna coming back and try other dishes.
This place has the best Malaysian food in Brooklyn! They have a huge selection of all the classic Malayan dishes. We got: 1. Char Koay Teow - thick flat noodle stir fried with seafood medley and bean sprouts. Our plate only had two pieces of squid and you can tell it's from a frozen seafood mix. 2. Curry mee young tao fu - delicious fish paste red curry with mixed with tofu fish balls, eggplants and fried tofu skin *MUST GET! 3. Nasi Lemak - we wanted to get the pandan version but they no longer sell the pandan rice. 4. Appetizer mixer platter - pork spring roll, shrimp pancake, fried tofu, thousand year eggs, with ginger and chili sauce The curry mee young tao fu appetizer is probably my favorite dish out of the four items. The curry is so flavorful and I love the mix and match of different textures in the soup. You have the soft eggplant, the chewy fish balls, and the crispy fried tofu skin. We had plenty to take home for a second meal for two people!!
Came here for dinner a few weeks back and the food was pretty good! We ordered a noodle, half a chicken, mixed skewer sticks, a mixed veggie dish, the fish curry and two bowls of rice - all for three people. It was definitely way too much for us to finish hence leftovers (yay!) Skewers were super good- both beef and chicken were nice and tender and the peanut sauce it comes with was very good- we used it on other dishes as well! Hainese chicken was soft and def needed the soy sauce and other sauces for flavor. typical. The fish curry was pretty good but my only gripe is for the price $29, it feels a tad high for the type of fish they use (tilapia). Coconut rice and chicken flavored rice were both good. Oh- we also had some drinks and I ordered the ice cendol which comes with pandan jelly. The drink itself i think is just coconut milk with palm sugar as the sweetner but the drink itself was quite sweet and the pandan jelly was super soft unlike the other chewier pandan jelly I've had from other locations. Overall, I would come back here again and try other menu items. Super casual but good food.
I was in the area and stopped by Little House Restoran to get my Malaysian food cravings satisfied! Started off with the young tao fu (without noodles) and the curry sauce was super fragrant with a nick spice kick. The eggplant, tofu, and jicama with the meat filling were all very delicious. For mains, the prawn mee had a hearty broth with strong prawn flavors. The egg noodles were good but a little overcooked. The chow kway teow was solid with good wok hei and savory flavors. Shrimp pieces were juicy and bean sprouts crunchy. Nevertheless I think it could have used a little more white pepper. Their belacan sauce was a lovely addition to the noodle dishes. The sauce was very multidimensional with different layers of shrimp/seafood, garlic/shallot, and red pepper flavors. For drinks, the bek kopi was solid and reminded me of ones I had in KL. Although the chendol had strong coconut sugar flavors, the coconut milk was diluted and the green jelly was a little too mushy. DO NOT SKIP ON DESSERT!! As someone who grew up eating kuihs, their kuihs were very solid and affordable. My go-to kuih salat had a balanced mix of pandan and coconut flavors. The sticky rice was chewy and had a good texture. Their kuih sago impressed me. Not only was the sago integrity preserved, but also the coconut flavors and coconut sugar taste were balanced and not overpowering. This no frills mom and pop shop was bigger than expected; tables were clean. I went on a weekday so service was quick, despite a lot of take out orders. There is a fee with credit card payments so get your cash ready. Would come back if I was in the area and definitely will get more kuihs!
